SPOIL
YOUR
HANDS.
Climbing chalk blended with all natural ingredients that have been used for centuries to care for hard working skin.
“All climbing chalk
is the same.”
Sure, and your shoes are just rubber.
Most climbing chalk is magnesium carbonate. So is ours. What’s different is the feel. The characteristics and performance of chalk change based on a variety of factors like manufacturing method, additives, and moisture content.
| Typical Climbing Chalk | X Chalk | |
|---|---|---|
| Base | 100% Magnesium Carbonate | 100% Magnesium Carbonate |
| Manufacturing process | Mined magnesite | Seawater-derived |
| Feel | Greasy, slick | Dry, responsive |
| Scent | Sweaty hands (yum!) | Warm, resinous, a little sweet |
| Effect on skin | Dried out. Cracked | Soft, healthy, ready to go again tomorrow. |
| Additives | Calcium carbonate, drying agents | Clove, myrrh, and tien chi |
The tube.
Climbing chalk is typically packaged in zip-top bags that never seal correctly and explode in your bag. Not to mention how they make filling your chalk bag a mess.
We went with tubes because chalk this good deserves to look good too. Plus, they reseal, stay sealed, and make refilling your chalk bag easy.
Made for gritty rock. Mixed in Arizona.

NEW HANDS
2005
X Chalk was developed by a climber to counteract the effects of the extremely gritty rock found in Arizona climbing areas. After only a route or two using normal chalk, their fingers were raw and burning.
2025
X Chalk was sold under the brand ZEN LIZARD for two decades to climbers who were tired of cutting their climbing days short due to chapped and irritated skin.
2026
X Chalk and ZEN LIZARD’s owner was ready to spend more time on the wall and less time mixing chalk, so they handed the X Chalk belay off to Walia. Same recipe, new hands, bigger vision.
